Location

Sunny Anyway can use a place selected by you, or device location with your permission, to retrieve local weather and choose a locally relevant scene. Device location permission is optional because a place can be selected manually.

Weather and image requests

The Android app requests weather through the Sunny Anyway backend and can retrieve image-library metadata from sunnyanyway.app. New scene photography can therefore be added without publishing a new app version.

Advertising

Once the paid advertising service launches, each approved ranking entry will show a logo and website alongside its rank and paid amount in the public ranking and dated archive. The highest eligible paid advertiser at the daily close receives additional placement in the SUNNY widget from the next Prague local midnight to the following midnight. Any optional widget message is reviewed separately before publication. REALITY continues to show actual weather. The advertising service and payments are not yet open to the public.

Current beta measurement

Existing beta analytics may count aggregate serves and link clicks for earlier sponsor placements in the widget and in-app SUNNY view. Those placements are separate from the planned paid ranking. The current implementation does not store IP addresses in sponsor campaign statistics. Measurement, retention and legal basis for the paid advertising service will be documented before checkout opens.

Safety

In the current beta, severe-weather warnings take priority over humour and legacy sponsor placements. Before paid widget checkout opens, we will publish how any alert-related interruption affects delivery and refunds.

App usage analytics

The Android beta can create a random installation identifier stored locally on the device and send a one-way server-side hash of that identifier with app-usage events. This allows Sunny Anyway to estimate unique installations and active devices without using IMEI, Android ID or an advertising identifier. The analytics can include app version, Android version, device model, locale and aggregate country. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the app-device analytics file. Reinstalling the app or clearing its data can create a new installation identifier.

Website analytics

sunnyanyway.app uses lightweight first-party analytics to count page views, approximate unique visitors, beta downloads and aggregate visitor countries. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics file. Country is derived from hosting/CDN geolocation headers when available, with a short-lived server-side geolocation lookup as a fallback. The analytics are cookieless. An approximate visitor identifier is calculated server-side from request data using a private one-way salt; the raw IP address and user-agent string are not written to the analytics file.

The final policy will identify processors, hosting providers, retention periods, applicable user rights and full production contact details. Read the planned advertising model and ranking rules.
